An addict is almost invariably also a liar and a thief, and in a broad variety of other ways he disrupts the lives of everyone around him, especially his family. It’s only natural, then, that family members tend to choose from a variety of behaviors when it comes to the addicts: distance themselves from him, accuse him, vilify him, and so on.
